Assistant Librarian, Faculty of Health Sciences (Last Date: December 25, 2016)

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
planning, organizing & supervising circulation activities at the Library’s front desk for prompt and easy access and circulation of library materials for use by all categories of library users
helping the users in literature search and reference service
monitoring performance of library shift staff for efficient and quality service to the users
generating record of overdue books, sending related notices on a regular basis and preparing accounts for fine received from overdue books
providing advice to collection development to process updated additions of recommended textbooks, replacing mutilated or damaged books
preparing books circulation statistics using library system to determine much used and less used material and identify books for ordering
assisting in special books exhibitions on national and international days
overseeing the Inter-Library loan of books
maintaining book shelves according to classification schemes
preparing library migration to standard of International integrated Library system
downloading and editing of (MAchine-Readable Cataloging) MARC 21 records.
Requirements

You should have:
Masters in Library and Information Sciences
minimum two years’ experience of working in an educational institute or health science library, preferably in the public services and circulation department
good Interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
user friendly aptitude in small group and team environment
good commitment to public service, strong reference skills and proficiency in traditional and computer assisted searching
proficiency in the use of MS Office.
